Founded in 1880 New York City USA by Albert Wittnauer, the Wittnauer watch company used Swiss movements and produced rugged and reliable watches that was used by sportsman, scientists who led expeditions, aviators, and the everyday gentleman.

Wittnauer became the exclusive American agent for Longines (a Swiss luxury watchmaker) in the U.S. from the late 1800s through most of the 20th century. They also produced timing instruments for aircraft and ships during WW1 and WW2.

The Wittnauer sold the company in 1950, and the quartz revolution of the 1970s further exacerbated the dwindling mechanical / automatic watch market that hit Wittnauer hard.

The company was then sold to Bulova in 2001, and Wittnauer watches produced before 2001 have become Collectibles.

Here we have a very rare Wittnauer QWR Quartz 2 Tone Diver's watch in stunning condition.

This extremely sexy model was produced and discontinued circa late '80s and late '90s respectively to the dismay of many of her cult followers, HENCE, THIS IS A HIGHLY SORT AFTER COLLECTORS WATCH because of its cult following.

This model, denoted by "QWR" for "Quartz Water Resistant," features a Swiss-made quartz movements with 7 jewels and equipped with day-date complications.

The 3D white baton lumen indices, date / day window and luminous hands are magnificently preserved after a good clean-up as well. The dial and hand lumens are operable.

A complete overhaul was conducted on 15 April 2025 including a battery change; thereby the watch should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change.

The timeless cylindrical shaped silver case and back case were buffed as best as possible; so too the mineral glass which is in near mint condition.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is well protected against damage and snags via the crown guards located north and south of the crown, yet it is easily accessible. The date / day and time quickset works as it should by pulling the crown out to the first and second level for respective adjustment.

The Day is in English and Spanish, cool!

Equipped with the ETA 955124 Quartz Calibre, it has 7 Jewels giving it excellent accuracy and longevity respectively. This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a Collectible timepiece, and of course the meticulous care provided over the years.

The case width and height are approximately 37mm (without crown) and 45mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

The timepiece comes with the original high quality Wittnauer 2-Tone SS Bracelet that was given a thorough clean-up via ultrasonic immersion and is now in excellent condition.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when servicing the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Wittnauer components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in excellent.

Even though all seals are present, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided show the watch’s case in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful EVA pouch will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for an overhaul, and S$ 100.00 to polish including tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.

A same model in lesser pristine condition was recently sold on eBay at USD 191.40; hence, my selling price for an overhauled Wittnauer QWR in stunning condition is extremely fair.

This is a truly magnificent Wittnauer QWR Divers in pristine condition with a beautifully preserved dial, immaculate indices, hands, movement and case; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.
