Omega is world-renowned for high quality movement watches at reasonable prices, and this beautifully crafted 1956 Caliber 267 is no exception.
The Caliber 267 is one of the most prolific movement's ever produced by Omega and it is highly sort-after due to its scarcity and the fact that it has a mini-second hand dial. Many watch repairers / dealers are willing to pay top dollar just for a fully functional movement alone.
For Omega Collectors and Vintage fans, this is an Omega mini-second hand dial 9K Gold-Filled timepiece in immaculate condition.
This is most definitely a Collectible.
This extremely rare Omega has an egg white dial that has beautifully and gracefully aged with patina (AKA Wabi Sabi - the "imperfect perfections / the perfection imperfections") forming from the dial edges and moving inwards towards the center thereby creating a Roman mosaic effect that is quite pleasing to the eye. The 3D-styled 9K solid-gold indices and hands were given a good clean and rub and are now in stunning condition.
The case and case back were cleaned and buffed as best as possible albeit a few hairline scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The mineral glass is also in excellent condition. The typical oversized crown is located at the traditional 3H position and works flawlessly!
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated in March 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the highly sort-after 267 movement that is made from copper beryllium, it has 17 Jewels that operate at 18,000 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher shows excellent readings i.e. rate of +11 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 279! Such readings are exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking calibration conducted.
The case width and height are approximately 33mm (without crown) and 41mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; thus, the watch size is suitable for men and the modern women.
A brand new high quality genuine leather strap with silver buckle is provided. The buyer has the option to choose a different design / strap from my array of straps should he / she feels the need to do so.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided show the watch’s case in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful aftermarket carrying case or box will be provided instead.
Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1956! Another no-brainer is the fact that its value will appreciate over time.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for an overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on watch condition), and S$ 100.00 to clean and polish including tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a truly magnificent 1956 Omega 267 in immaculate condition with a beautifully preserved and stunning Wabi-Sabi Roman Mosaic dial, immaculate indices, hands, movement and case, and an awesome hand-stitched leather strap; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.
This is a must-have for the Omega die-hard fan, or any vintage horology fan for that matter!
