Armagnac, the oldest French Brandy is obtained through the distillation of white wines of the Gascony region.
Aged for years in casks, it develops fabulous flavours and aromas. Formerly called ‘ardent water’ or ‘immortality water,' Armagnac became famous in the middle ages for its therapeutic qualities.
Consumed in moderation, this Armagnac feeds, stimulates and delights the spirit. After all, Armagnac gave stamina to the musketeers of Armagnac and to the cadets of Gascogne, didn’t it!?
Our house owns the most important collection of old vintages; the majority is kept in our storehouses, quietly waiting for the delicate moment of bottling. The oldest vintage goes back to 1888! Armagnac, like cognac is divided into categories depending on the age and vintage, however, cognac has decided not to follow this protocol but Armagnac continues to do so.
A certain amount of the liquid may have given itself up as the "Angels Share," and the cork for such old expressions has the propensity to break which is very normal due to this phenomenon. Thus, the drinker must practice due diligence when opening this liquid gold bottle.
This very special bottle is aged beyond an XO or even Hor d'Age. It was bottled on the 28.03.2013, lot number 7320313 hence it is 40 years old! And add the fact that it is now 2022, this bottle has been further maturing whilst "sleeping" for another 10 years thus making it practically 50 years old. Yet surprisingly the angel's share is at an all time minimal.
This is one of the best ever presents one can give to a loved one who was born in the year 1973. There are very few left and there is only one right here, right now. So do decide before it is swept away!
Take note that these expressions are sold in "as is" condition due to their age.
