Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., was founded in 1930 as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute by Japanese jeweler Kamekichi Yamazaki. The company was later renamed Citizen in 1937.

In 1956, Citizen introduced its first wristwatch with an automatic movement, the Citizen Parawater, marking a significant milestone in the company's history.

The Citizen Homer Date was introduced as a premium watch range in the 1960s and is one of the most sort after Citizen vintage mechanical range.

This well preserved Citizen Homer Date has a beautiful silvery-white dial with a slight dash of Patina present thereby giving it a champagne gold shade. Its date window, 3D-styled silver block Indices’ and dauphine hands show minimal signs of aging after a good clean-up.

Its typical cylindrical shaped silver case was buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape and lines albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.

It's dial, hands, date window, movement, crystal, case and case-back were given a general cleaning and servicing and calibration on 28 August 2023. Its timekeeping is excellent i.e. ± 1 minute every 24 hours, and should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years at the least thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

The case width and height are approximately 35mm (without crown) and 43mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the SS bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 21.0cm; hence this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

Its originally Citizen signed SS bracelet was cleaned via ultrasonic immersion and looks almost brand new! The original acrylic crystal was given a good rub to remove all age marks and miniscule scratches albeit a few hairline scratches do remain.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided show the watch is in very good condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 80.00 to S$ 100.00 for a general servicing, an estimated S$ 40.00 for calibration, and S$ 100.00 to clean, polish and tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.

This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a beautiful present for that special someone.

This is a must-have for the Citizen die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
