Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you, a truly one-of-a-kind, the highly sort-after July 1969 Citizen Cutlass 33 Jewels Automatic Watch. This timepiece is almost impossible to find - literally.
For Citizen Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a highly sort-after Collectible July 1969 Cutlass in stunning condition with its trademark logo between the center and 6H position.
It's milk white dial has taken on a slightly golden hue that has made it look beige-white in an extremely attractive manner. There is a small patch of patina (wabi-sabi) found between the 2H and 3H positions which in truth, is barely noticeable unless one is looking for it.
It's indices and hands are in pristine condition after a good clean-up and so too the unique and sexy designed case albeit minor scratches found on almost all vintage watch cases.
This watch model is the very few that has 33 Jewels whereas this range is known to mostly have 27 jewels, thereby giving this time-piece improved accuracy and minimises wear and tear on the moving parts, and increases value due to scarcity.
The movement was carefully stripped and cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated in September 2022. In short, it underwent an overhaul and not a basic servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years at the least thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
The case (for its age) is in excellent condition and had undergone a painstaking cleaning process but I had decided not to remove all minor scratches as it might distort the case shape; however, the crystal has been polished almost to perfection thereby leaving no signs of scratches. If any, they are highly unnoticeable to the naked eye.
The signed crown is original with the letters "CTZ" and is located at the 3H position. The day / date works flawlessly as it should.
The case width and height are 36mm (without crown) and 42mm respectively. The lug width is 19mm and the genuine leather strap can accommodate wrists up to 21.0cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Citizen components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided show the watch’s case in excellent condition (minor dents and scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An after-market box / case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same models in the market, BUT none in such excellent and well maintained condition as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in July 1969. Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for an overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on watch condition), and S$ 100.00 to clean and polish including tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a very rare and highly sort-after Citizen Cutlass with a classy vintage black leather strap that compliments the off-white dial and silver indices and black hands, so, be unique and wear something that is almost impossible to source.
This is a must-have for the Citizen die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector!
