Made famous by US soldiers during the Vietnam War era, this very unique and rare vintage June 1983 Seiko 5 6309-8480 "TV" has a beautiful midnight black Dial.

THIS IS A HIGHLY SORT AFTER COLLECTORS WATCH because of the increase in demand for rectangular case watches.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, THIS IS A SEIKO SUWA in very good condition.

This masculine 6309-8480 17 Jewel Automatic has a matt black Dial and Chapter Ring. The 3D baton indices, date / day window and hands are in silver and are in good condition.

This well preserved watch was properly stripped and every part meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled and re-assembled in September 2022. It should be able to operate without servicing for the next 5 years at the very least.

The timeless rectangle silver case was buffed as best as possible; however, there are some hairline scratches present. The acrylic glass was also buffed and is in very good condition. Everything within the case including the crown is 100% original thereby it is considered in almost mint condition, what with its age of 40 years being taken into consideration.

The honeydew coloured genuine leather strap is brand new and adds complimentary contrasts to the charcoal black dial face. It also helps accentuate the silver case and indices.

The crown is located at the traditional 4H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags yet it is easily accessible. The date / day quickset works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first level to adjust the date and day via clockwise and counterclockwise. The time is adjusted by pulling the crown out to the second level.

Equipped with the 6309 movement, it has 17 Jewels that operate at 21,000 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent longevity and accuracy. The case width and height are approximately 34mm (without crown) and 38mm respectively. The lug width is 20mm, hence the watch size is suitable for men and the modern women.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested. The pictures provided show the watch’s case in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within is squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in June 1983! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty. Valued between S$ 88.00 to S$ 212.00 on various auction / online sites from really horrible, un-serviced or "as is" condition to refurbished pristine condition models (Note: the mentioned prices do not include commissions, taxes and freight costs etc). It is being sold here for S$ 149.00 which is extremely reasonable.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost at least S$ 200.00 - 300.00 for a proper overhaul service + polishing for such a watch, and another S$ 40.00 for a good quality genuine leather - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece.

This is a classic June 1983 Seiko 5 SUWA TV in very good condition with a well preserved vintage dial, very good indices, hands, movement and case; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.

This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan, or any vintage watch fan for that matter!
