According to most reliable on-line sources, Seiko introduced the 6106 movement in 1967, and this watch, dated June 1967 may be from the first batch or at least one of the first few batches produced.

The "DX" is an acronym for Deluxe

THIS IS A COLLECTORS ITEM for many reasons but mainly due to its year of manufacture.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, THIS IS A SEIKO 5 SUWA DX in near-mint condition.

This very rare 1967 vintage Seiko is HIGHLY SORT AFTER because of its unique shape, excellent movement "hi-beat" bhp (when it was first introduced of course), and its "Deluxe" quality level.

Its unique curved squarish silver case comes with sexy corners, thus giving the case a distinct look. The case has been buffed as best as possible but some miniscule hairline scratches are present but almost unnoticeable. The acrylic glass has miniscule scratches. It can be replaced with an after-market acrylic glass should the Buyer wishes. 

The crown is located at its traditional 4H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags yet easily accessible. The date quickset works as it should by pushing the crown in for adjustment.

The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled and re-assembled. It should be able to operate without servicing for the next 5 to 10 years at the very least.

Equipped with the very rare 6106 movement, it has an impressive 25 Jewels which is the highest for the 6106 range. It operates at 21,600 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher shows excellent readings ie rate of +23 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 204! Such readings are within the tolerance of modern day automatic watches; thus this is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, and of course the meticulous care provided over the years.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

The case width and height are approximately 35.0mm (without crown) and 41.5mm respectively; the lug width is an impressive 20mm. Hence, the watch size is suitable for men and the modern women.

Due to its age, please note that this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

A sexy vintage style navy-blue genuine leather strap with white stitching is selected to compliment the silvery-white dial and case. The strap comes with built-in quick-release spring bars for easy installation and removal.

The pictures provided show the watch’s case in excellent condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within is squeaky clean and well maintained This beautiful watch has been de-magnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a Seiko 5 SUWA DX 6106-7010 in excellent condition and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in June 1967!
