According to most reliable sources online, the 6119A debuted in November 1967 and ceased production in 1975.

The 6119 was used for a range of Seiko models at that time because of its robust attribute; yet it was slimmer and had more features than the previous models it superseded.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a highly sort-after May 1968 Seiko 5 Sports Model 6119-8120 SUWA 21 Jewel Automatic that had acquired Collectible status - even more so if the bezel is blue in colour!

This seldom seen Seiko 5 Sports 6119-8120 has a beautiful and immaculately preserved matt black dial, 3D white baton indices, stick hands, date window and chapter ring are in very good condition after a deep cleaning. The wordings "70m Waterproof" and blue bezel makes this a rare Collectible.

This beautifully and uniquely shaped silver case with built-in lugs with super sharp lines are in superb condition after a good cleaning, and buff. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape and lines; however, there are still miniscule scratches remaining that are barely noticeable.

The crystal was polished; however, minor scratches do remain.

The crown is located at the traditional 4H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags. The date quickset works as it should by pushing the crown in and uncorking the crown for hands adjustment. The day quickset is via turning the hands backwards and forwards past midnight. The day is only in Japanese; hence, a JDM.

The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 26 September 2026; hence it underwent an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the excellent 6119 movement, it operates at 21,600 BPH. The timing shows approximately 12 seconds deviation daily which is well within the 30 second requirements by brand new modern automatic watch standards.

The case width and height are approximately 39mm (w/o crown) and 43mm respectively. The lug to lug is 19mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 17cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

A hi-quality Super Engineer SS Bracelet comes with the watch. It too underwent ultrasonic cleaning, a good polish and is now in stunning condition albeit minor scratches do remain.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified.

Even though the case back seal has been replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition and well maintained. It has been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Yes, there are many other same models in the market, but almost all are not in the same quality condition and is well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in May 1968!

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for an overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on watch condition), and S$ 100.00 to clean and polish including tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
