The Singapore Orchid Series Currency is Singapore's first ever sovereign currency that was introduced in 1967. It was superseded by the Bird Series Currency in 1976.
MAS issued 9 different denominations including a Singapore S$ 1.00 note. These notes are extremely special as they were signed by then Minister of Finance, Mr Hon Sui Sin, a banking genius who served this role from 1970 to 1983. He was key to the formation of DBS Bank (1963), Intraco, and the Jurong Industrial Estate (JIE) and the Jurong Residential Estate in 1967.
Even though these are used notes, they are nonetheless extremely hard to come by, especially the S$ 5.00. Both S$ 5.00 and S$ 1.00 are in used condition.
The notes are housed in a simple yet elegant Display Unit that allows front and back visual aesthetics while keeping its precious cargo safe and secure. This optional Display Stand size 180 x 180 x 20 is priced at S$ 25.30.
