Victorinox Swiss Army is a Swiss watch brand whose history is closely connected to the famous Swiss Army Knife. Although Victorinox was established in 1884, its entry into watchmaking came much later, in 1989.
Unlike Rolex, Omega or Longines, Victorinox did not originate as a traditional watchmaking company. Its watches developed from an established Swiss manufacturer of precision knives and tools into a recognised range of Swiss-made timepieces.
One particularly interesting aspect of its history is the distinction between Victorinox Swiss Army and the separate Wenger Swiss Military watch collections, which eventually came under the same corporate ownership.
In 1989, Victorinox entered the watch industry by launching Swiss Army watches in the United States.
This was an important commercial expansion because the Swiss Army Knife had already established a reputation for reliability, practicality and durability.
The initial watches followed the same philosophy.
They were designed as functional everyday timepieces rather than luxury jewellery, with legible dials, robust cases, practical water resistance and Swiss quartz movements.
Early collections included military-inspired field watches with simple Arabic numerals, luminous hands and uncomplicated case construction.
These early Victorinox Swiss Army watches are particularly interesting to vintage collectors because they represent the company's first generation of watchmaking.
For Victorinox Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a DHC Series Sports Divers DC-8045 Black Dial which is pretty rare; and its beautifully cleaned black dial with 3D Block Indices and Baton Hands adds class. The lumens are fully operable! Cool!
This timepiece was given a good servicing, and its dial was meticulously cleaned, its quartz movement cleaned, and its battery replaced on 27 October 2026. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery replacement thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
The crown is left uncorked to prevent battery drainage.
This typical cylindrical case was cleaned and polished. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape; however, age marks do remain. The crystal was polished to remove scratches albeit miniscule scratches do remain.
The crown is located at its traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The case width and height are approximately 31.7mm (without crown) and 38.0mm respectively. The lug to lug is 16mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 18.3cm; hence, this watch is suitable for young men and the modern women.
The original Gunmetal finish Oyster designed SS bracelet accompanies the watch. It underwent a good clean up and is now in stunning condition.
To the best of our knowledge, the watch is 100% original Victorinox components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts.
Even though the case seal was replaced and crown gasket is present, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.
The pictures provided show the watch in excellent condition and well maintained. The watch comes with its original box. Cool!
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same models in the market, but almost all are not in the same quality condition and as well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind timepiece will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone!
This is a highly sort-after Collectible Victorinox DC-8054 in near mint condition; so, be unique and own an underrated watch that is nearly impossible to source in such fine condition or purchase it for that special someone instead.
