The Seiko Lady 2906-0090 is one of the first hi-beat watches produced by Seiko for the female buyer which is a rarity hence its collectible status.
Even though it is slightly bigger than the standard female watch size, it is still nonetheless small in comparison to todays watches for women because small lady watches showcases elegance without bragging. Big watches during the 50s to 70s were considered boorish behaviour.
This uniquely designed watch has a captivating emerald green dial that lights up due to the multi-faceted crystal used.
It was given a general service and general calibration on 28 August 2023. Its timekeeping is excellent i.e. ± 1 minute every 24 hours, and should be able to operate without servicing for the next 5 to 10 years at the very least thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Its cylindrical shaped case is married to a super fine link SS bracelet which oozes class and prestige. It was buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape and lines albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crystal is original and is constructed from mineral glass. It too was given a good rub and is now almost perfect.
The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The case width and height are approximately 25mm (without crown) and 31mm respectively; the lug width is 11mm; and the SS bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 16.0cm with ease.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided show the watch is in very good condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none as beautifully aged and as well maintained as what you see here. Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
This particular Seiko Lady 2906-0090 Hi-Beat timepiece is being sold here for S$ 76.00 which is extremely reasonable.
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 80.00 to S$ 100.00 for a basic servicing and S$ 40.00 for basic calibration; and S$ 30.00 to buff the watch case and bracelet - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a beautiful present for that someone special.
This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
