According to reliable online sources, Seiko introduced the A259-5090 Digital Chronograph in 1979. It became the "go-to" movement for Seiko high end timepieces because of its durability, affordability and range of capabilities.
For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko Silverwave A259-5090 Digital Chronograph nicknamed "James Bond," in near mint condition, and is a highly sort-after Collectible timepiece.
This beautifully shaped silver case was given a good clean-up and rub while maintaining its sharp lines and sexy curve. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape. The crystal is original and was given a good rub as well.
Four buttons are located at 11H, 2H, 4H and 8H and all work flawlessly.
The quartz movement was carefully stripped, given a proper cleaning, and a new battery was inserted in July 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next couple of years thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
The case width and height are approximately 35mm (without crown) and 40mm respectively. The lug width is 20mm, and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.
The bracelet is the original Seiko signed SS bracelet that came with this watch. It too was given a good clean-up, polish and all links were tightened for better lifespan.
The watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts.
Even though the seals and gaskets are present, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.
The pictures provided show the watch’s case in almost perfect condition and well maintained. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same models in the market, BUT almost all are not in the same quality condition and is well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind timepiece will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that someone special born in November 1979!
This is a highly sort-after Collectible Seiko A259-5090 "James Bond" in stunning condition; so, be unique and wear something that is almost impossible to source.
This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector!
