This Seiko 402 mechanical movement made its debut in 1961 in the Seiko SUWA Skyliner. It was circa 1960 that Seiko abrogated the 3 digit to 4 digit model, thus the 402 became known as the 6102.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a pre-SUWA (logo) Seiko 402 Skyliner AD in immaculate condition.

The 402 movement is one of the most rarest mechanical movements and is one of the most highly sort after. This watch is a Collectible.

This extremely rare 1962 vintage Seiko Skyliner's original silver dial has aged gracefully and has taken on a caramel grey that produces a golden syrupy dial at certain angles. Grey patina (Wabi-Sabi) is present between the 12H to 2H position that actually enhances the dial producing a greyish sunburst effect that compliments the silver Indices and case.

The case (for its age) is in excellent condition and had undergone a painstaking cleaning process and most age marks and main scratches were removed albeit miniscule scratches do remain. The crystal was also given a good rub and is in very good condition.

The crown is original and is located at the 3H position and is nicely tucked away yet easily accessible.

The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and basic calibration conducted in May 2022. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the 402 movement, it has 21 Jewels that operate at 18,000 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity.

The case width and height are 35mm (without crown) and 42mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the genuine leather saddle strap can accommodate wrists up to 21.0cm with ease; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.

A beautifully crafted hand-stitched high quality Crazy Horse genuine leather strap with leather padding, matching stitching and silver buckle is provided to compliment the colour of the case and dial.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided shows the watch case in excellent condition, and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been de-magnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.

Yes, there are many other same models in the market, BUT almost all are not as well maintained as what you see here.
