The Zippo lighter is an iconic American product known for its reliability, design, and collectible status.

The Zippo lighter was invented by George G. Blaisdell, who founded the Zippo Manufacturing Company in Bradford, Pennsylvania, in 1932. Blaisdell was inspired by an Austrian windproof lighter and aimed to create a similar device with a sleeker and more user-friendly design.

The first Zippo lighter, known as the Zippo Windproof Lighter, was introduced in 1933. It featured a hinged lid and a unique chimney design that protected the flame from wind thereby making it windproof.

In 1936, the company adopted the name "Zippo" after Blaisdell saw the word "zipper" and thought it sounded modern and catchy. He also introduced the famous Zippo slogan, "It works or we fix it free," that highlighted its lifetime guarantee.

Zippo lighters became popular among American soldiers during WW2 due to their reliability and ability to withstand harsh conditions. Zippo produced custom lighters for various military units and became a symbol of the American GI.

The Zippo lighter gained popularity among civilians post WW2 and became a symbol of American culture. It was often associated with Hollywood films and iconic personalities.

Zippo encouraged customization, allowing owners to personalize their lighters with engravings, designs, and logos. Collectors began to appreciate the variety of designs and limited editions, making Zippo lighters highly collectible.

While best known for its lighters, Zippo expanded into other product categories, including outdoor gear, hand warmers, fragrance, and yes, watches. The Company continues to produce lighters in Bradford, Pennsylvania, with millions of units manufactured annually. Zippo lighters remain popular collectibles, cherished by enthusiasts around the world.

Here we have a Zippo Quartz Watch Keychain with a built-in flashlight at the top that does come in handy. The keychain is also equipped with an oversized snap-link hook with safety catch that one can hook the keychain to, for example, a jeans loop for added security.

This timepiece was given a good servicing, and its dial, indices, hands and quartz movement was meticulously cleaned, and its battery replaced on 1 September 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next couple of years thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

This uniquely shaped vintage designed alloy case was also given a good rub while maintaining its sharp lines and sexy curves. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape. The crystal is original and was given a good rub as well.

Two crowns are present at the 2.30H and 3.30H position and both are easily accessible. The 2.30H "crown" is actually a push-button to illuminate the watch dial, whilst the 3.30H crown is the actual watch crown for time adjustment the traditional way.

The red lens flashlight is located above the dial. The flashlight pushbutton is located to the right whilst the light is positioned to the left of the keychain. A heavy duty cowhide strap with rivet attaches the timepiece to the oversized snap-link.

The case width is approximately 41mm (without crown), and the thickness is 12mm; hence, this keychain is suitable for men and the modern women.

The watch is 100% original Zippo components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts.

Even though the seals and gaskets are present / replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided show the entire keychain in excellent condition and well maintained. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Bear in mind that this collectible has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind timepiece will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone!

This is a very rare and highly sort-after Collectible Zippo Quartz Watch with Beem Flashlight in stunning condition; so, be unique and own something that is LITERALLY impossible to source.

This is a must-have for the vintage collectible die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector as well!
