This Seiko 402 mechanical movement made its debut in 1961 in the Seiko SUWA Skyliner. It was circa 1964 that Seiko abrogated the 3-digit to 4-digit model, thus the 402 became known as the 6102.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a pre-SUWA (logo) Seiko 402 Skyliner AD in immaculate condition.

The 402 movement is one of the rarest mechanical movements and is one of the most highly sort after. This watch is a Collectible.

This extremely rare January 1963 vintage Seiko Skyliner's original silver Fine Linen dial has aged gracefully and has taken on a caramel colour that produces a golden syrupy dial at certain angles.

The case is in excellent condition and had undergone a painstaking cleaning process and most age marks and main scratches were removed albeit miniscule scratches do remain. The crystal was replaced with a hi-grade Japanese crystal and given a good polish.

The signed crown is original and is located at the 3H position and is nicely tucked away yet easily accessible.

The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and basic calibration conducted on 24 July 2026. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the 402 movement, it has 21 Jewels and operate at 18,000 BPH. The time-grapher shows superb readings of +2 seconds and amplitude of 216 with a relatively straight line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking calibration conducted.

The case width and height are 35.9mm (w/o crown) and 42.4mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the genuine leather saddle strap can accommodate wrists up to 21.0cm with ease; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.

A beautifully crafted brand-new hi-quality Rally Designed genuine brown leather strap with gold buckle is provided as part of the deal.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition, and the movement within is clean and well maintained. It has also been de-magnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
