According to most legitimate online information available, the Seiko 6309 movement made its debut in 1976 and lasted until 1988.

This movement was extremely successful and was used in numerous vintage models.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, THIS IS A SEIKO 5 SUWA in excellent condition.

This unique 6309-5130 17 Jewel Automatic has a unique coloured and well preserved moody grey Dial that contrasts with the black Chapter Ring with white indices. It was meticulously stripped and every part properly cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled and re-assembled. It should be able to operate without servicing for the next 5 years at the very least.

The unique hexagon shaped silver case was buffed as best as possible; however, there are some hairline scratches present which are unnoticeable unless one is looking for them. The glass is original and do have a few scratches and minor chippings at the 2H and 10H positions, which are again, unnoticeable. Everything within the case including the crown is 100% original thereby it is considered in extremely good condition, what with its age of almost 42 years being taken into consideration.

The crown is located at the traditional 4H position and is easily accessible. The date quickset works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first level to adjust the date and day via clockwise or counterclockwise respectively. The time is adjusted by pulling the crown out to the second level.

Equipped with the 8306 movement, it has an impressive 17 Jewels that operate at 21,600 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent longevity and accuracy. The time-grapher shows excellent readings ie rate of +9 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 148. Such readings are very hard to be found even in modern brand new automatic watches whereby the accepted tolerance is -2- to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, and of course the meticulous care provided over the years.

A vintage designed midnight black genuine leather strap with silver buckle is provided.

The case width and height are approximately 38mm (without crown) and 40mm respectively. The lug width is 20mm, hence the watch size is suitable for men and the modern women.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided show the watch’s case in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within is squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that dear someone born in August 1981!

Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time. Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

This watch model is valued between S$ 120.00 to S$ 212.00 on various auction / online sites from really horrible, un-serviced or "as is" condition to refurbished pristine condition models (Note: the mentioned prices do not include commissions, taxes and freight costs etc). It is being sold here for S$ 168.00 which is extremely reasonable.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost at least S$ 200.00 - 300.00 for a proper overhaul service + polishing for such a watch, and another S$ 40.00 for a good quality genuine leather strap - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece.

This is a truly magnificent August 1981 Seiko 5 SUWA in superb condition with a beautifully preserved vintage dial, immaculate indices, hands, movement and case; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.
