This Hongkong Bauhinia Flower Coin range was launched on 1 January 1993 that superseded the "British Monarchy" range prior to the handing over of Hongkong to China in 1997.
Due to the 'Octopus Card" launch in 1997 that allows for small value transactions, coins became less used, hence, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) stopped producing coins from 1998 to 2011. They (HKMA) began minting the Bauhinia series after 14 years of non-minting due in part of increased consumption of coins since 2004.
Here we have the entire range of Bauhinia coins that are well preserved. Some are in almost immaculate condition.
These coins come in a plastic bag suitable for storing coins.
