According to most reliable online sources, the Seiko 6319 movement made its debut circa October 1976.

The 6319 is an improved version of the 6309. It comes with 21 jewels instead of 17, it is supposed to be more accurate and was used in many Seiko models including the DX and 5 Sports models.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is an extremely rare and highly sort-after Seiko SUWA, Model 6319-8020 21 Jewel Automatic Watch because the Dial indicates 6309-381R-R Deluxe 21 Jewels. For your information, the 6309 is only a 17-jewel that operates at 18,000 BPH; hence this deluxe model which is a 21-jewel, 21,600 BPH.

Furthermore, the 6319 movement is becoming scarcer as the days go by and has become a Collectible recently.

This rare January 1981 Vintage Seiko has a simple yet beautiful grey sunburst dial, baton hands, day, and date wheel; and a fluted bezel.

The silver baton indices, chapter ring and silver hands are also in very good condition after a good clean-up.

Its classy gold case was buffed as best as possible and looks awesome, but miniscule hairline scratches are present but barely noticeable. The crystal is original and is in very good condition after a good polish albeit miniscule scratches do remain.

The crown is located at the traditional 4H position and neatly tucked away to prevent damage and unwanted snags. The date / day quickset works as it should by uncorking the crown to the first and second level for date + day and time adjustment respectively.

The Day is in German and English - SUPER Cool!

The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated. In should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the 6319A movement, it has 21 Jewels that operate at 21,600 BPH. The time-grapher shows excellent readings of 0 seconds and amplitude of 188 in a relative straight line! Such readings are highly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking calibration conducted.

The case width and height are approximately 35.4mm (without crown) and 42.8mm respectively. The lug width is 20mm whilst the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 19cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

A vintage gold-plated Jubilee designed SS bracelet comes with the watch as part of the deal. It too underwent a thorough clean-up and buff and is not in stunning condition.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided show the watch in excellent condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, but none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that dear someone born in January 1981!
