According to most reliable online sources, Seiko introduced the Skyliner Calendar 21J manual winding timepiece in 1961. The Cal 956 is also known as the 6220 when Seiko adopted the 4 digit calibre system.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is an extremely rare July 1963 Seiko Liner 956 21J Mechanical Dress Watch.

It's original silvery sunburst dial, 3D white gold-filled baton indices, dauphine hands and case are in stunning condition after a thorough clean-up. The crystal was replaced and is now in mint condition.

The crown is located at its traditional 3H position. The time quickset works as it should by uncorking the crown for adjustment. There is no quickset for the date adjustment.

The movement was carefully stripped,meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 10 October 2025. In short, it underwent a complete overhaul and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the 956 movement, it operates at 18,000 BHP and has 21 jewels. The time-grapher shows superb readings of -1 seconds and amplitude of 177 with relatively straight centered lines! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking calibration conducted.

The case width (w/o crown) and height are approx. 36.0m and 43.6mm respectively. The lug width is 19mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though the seals and gaskets are in place.

The pictures provided shows the watch in stunning condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.
