"The Omega Calibre 342 is a vintage mechanical cum automatic movement produced by Omega in the late 1940s/early 1950s. It’s part of Omega’s early “bumper” automatic movement family, where the winding rotor doesn’t rotate 360°, but instead swings back and forth (“bumps”) against springs to wind the mainspring — hence the name “bumper” and a distinctive tactile sensation when worn.
Here we have an overhauled Omega Cal 342 Ref F6212 Automatic with Manual Winding capabilities in stunning condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed a beige dial with 3D 18K Arabic Numeral markers and 18K Dauphine hands.
Its classy and stylish shaped 18K gold case with semi-dog leg lugs were buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape, lines and finish albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable. The crystal was polished and is now in near mint condition.
The signed crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 21 January 2026; hence it underwent an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the 342-movement made from copper-plated beryllium-bronze, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 19,800 BPH. The time-grapher shows superb readings of -3 seconds with amplitude of 193 with consistent straight centered lines! Such readings are extremely exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approx. 32.2mm (w/o crown) and 37.6mm respectively. The hi-quality Morellato genuine crocodile brown leather strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm because it comes with additional links; hence this timepiece is suitable for men and the modern women.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though the seals are present.
The pictures provided show the watch in stunning condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Valued at S$ 2,426.00 to S$2,551.00, this watch is being sold at a fantastic price of S$ 2,233.00. This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1950, and its value will appreciate over time.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
This is a highly sort-after 1950 Omega "Bumper" Cal 342 Ref: F6212 Automatic in stunning condition; so, be unique and own an Omega Bumper 1950 Watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition or purchase it for that special someone.
