Baume & Mercier is a Swiss luxury watchmaking company with a rich history dating back to 1830. The brand was founded by brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume in the Jura Mountains region of Switzerland.

The Baume brothers laid the foundation for the brand in 1830, and later, in 1918, they joined forces with Paul Mercier to create Baume & Mercier. This collaboration marked the beginning of the brand as it is known today.

Here we have an all-time favorite amongst watch enthusiasts - the classy yet elegant Hampton City, Model 65409 circa 2000s.

Its classy oval silver shaped case, Arabic + Baton indices, Baton Hands and date window are in stunning condition after a good deep clean-up. The silver case and bracelet were given a deep cleaning that removed most of the obvious scratches and age marks and is now in excellent condition.

The movement was serviced on 06 April 2026 that included a new battery and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind. The crown has been uncorked to prevent battery drainage.

The unsigned crown is located at the 3H position is easily accessible. The date and hands quickset operate in the traditional manner by uncorking and rotating the crown accordingly.

The watch also comes with its original B&M Signed Shark Mesh SS Bracelet that has also been cleaned and links tightened.

The case width and height are approximately 33.2mm (w/o crown) and 27.4mm respectively. The lug width is 16mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 17.5cm.

To the best of our knowledge while servicing this timepiece, everything except for the crown is original. No other parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though all seals and gaskets are in place, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in near-mint condition, and the movement within is squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy.

The watch comes with its original heavy duty wooden box with cushion.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
