According to most legitimate online information available, the Seiko 7025 movement made its debut in 1976 and lasted until 1978.
The Seiko 7025-8099 was part of Seiko's effort to offer reliable and stylish automatic watches to a broader audience. While it shares design elements with professional dive watches, it's important to note that the 7025-8099 is more accurately categorised as a sport or dress diver, lacking certain features like a screw-down crown and high water resistance ratings typically found in professional dive watches.
It is often referred to as the 2nd Generation "Poor Man's 62MAS," this model draws aesthetic inspiration from Seiko's iconic 1965 diver, the 62MAS (ref. 6217), featuring similar dial layouts and hand styles.
This classic 7025-8099 Automatic has a well preserved matt black dial and date/day window that underwent a good clean-up thus revealing minimal signs of aging. The hands show signs of aging yet the hand and indices lumens are faintly operable!
The classic shaped silver case was buffed as best as possible; however, there are some hairline scratches present. The crystal was polished albeit miniscule scratches are still present.
The bi-directional Bezel and Insert underwent a good clean up and is moving smoothly yet firmly.
The crown is located at its traditional 3H position and tucked away nicely to prevent damage or snags, yet easily accessible.
The date and time adjustments are via the traditional method of pulling the uncorked crown to the first and second level for adjustment respectively.
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 28 April 2025; hence it underwent an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner a peace of mind.
Equipped with the super rare 7025a workhorse movement, it has 17 jewels and operate at 21,600 beats an hour giving it uncanny accuracy! The time-grapher, after hours of calibration, shows excellent readings i.e. rate of 0 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 189! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking expert calibration conducted.
The case width and height are approximately 39.0mm and 43.5mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.
All seals and gaskets have been serviced/replaced. However, due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
A brand new hi-quality Aviation Bund Genuine Leather Strap with silver buckle is provided, and is extremely comfortable to wear.
To the best of our knowledge while overhauling this timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified.
The pictures provided shows the watch case in immaculate condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box, so an aftermarket box / pouch will be provided instead.
Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same models in the market, BUT none are as well kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in September 1977. Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cared and cherished for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
This particular watch model is valued between S$ 725.00 to S$ 1,200.00 on various auction / online sites from really horrible, to un-serviced, to "as is," to service, to refurbished condition models. NOS / Fully Restored models are valued at S$ 1,870.00 thereabouts. Note: the mentioned prices may / do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.
This overhauled, polished with calibrated 7025-8099 is being sold here for S$ 1,188.00 which is extremely reasonable. So, NO LOW-BALLERS, please! Take note that low-ballers, trolls and wannabe advisors (whose "advise" is completely unwelcomed) will not be entertained, and should they persist, they will be reported and blocked!
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for a proper overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate, and S$ 80.00 to clean and polish the entire watch - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a Collectible 7025-8099 "Poor Man's 62 MAS" Diver's in excellent condition; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.
This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan or a serious watch collector!
