According to most legitimate online information available, the Seiko 7606 made its debut between the winter of 1963 and spring 1964. This movement was predominantly used in Seiko Champion, Sportsmatic and Deluxe models.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Pre-Daini (logo) Seiko Seikosha in stunning condition, hence the Cool Spinner Logo instead.

The objective was to create a full-blown sports watch with date / day functions and a bigger dial. Thus, this watch evolved from the Seiko Sportsman.

This extremely rare Seiko 5 Sportsmatic Deluxe's original silvery-white Dial and Chapter Ring, Silver Baton Indices, Dauphine Hands and Day/Date Window are in excellent condition after undergoing a good clean-up, so too the crystal glass, case and back case; however, scratches do remain.

This watch was given a good clean-up on 31 July 2026. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the Buyer peace of mind.

The crowns are located at their traditional 3H and 4H positions and tucked away nicely to prevent damage or snags. The 3H press-in crown is for date quickset whilst the time adjustment is via the traditional method of turning the uncorked 4H crown accordingly. The day quickset is via turning the hands backwards and forwards past midnight. Another unique feature is the day is only in English.

Equipped with the well revered 7606 movement, it has 23 Jewels that operate at 18,000 BPH. The timing shows approximately 17 seconds deviation daily which is well within the 30 second requirements for by brand new modern automatic watch standards.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified.

The case width and height are approximately 37.0mm (w/o crown) and 43.8mm respectively. The lug width is 19mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 19.0cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

The watch comes with an unsigned hi-quality hand-stitched genuine brown leather strap with a gold buckle a part of the deal.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided shows the watch in pristine condition (no dents, dings and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, but none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot.
