According to most reliable online sources, the Seikosha DAINI factory produced the first King Seiko in 1961 to compete with the Grand Seiko made by the Seikosha SUWA that made its debut in 1960. However, the King Seiko 56KS range was produced by the SUWA factory because it is the same movement as the Grand Seiko 56GS!

The Seiko 5626 movement made its debut in 1969, the same year Seiko introduced their quartz range to the world due to the insatiable demand for such watches.

That is why, this is a highly sort-after Collectible because it is a Grand Seiko in disguise! And it is almost non-existent because Seiko stopped producing King Seiko's in 1975 to allow the emergence of the Grand Seiko as the undisputed high-end Seiko watch.

So, for Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Re-Dialed King Seiko JDM SUWA in stunning condition! As already mentioned, there are also (cheaper) King Seiko's from DAINI that began King Seiko production before the SUWA factory, so one must be extremely vigilant as to what KS they are purchasing.

Thereby, this November 1972 model is one of the last few ever produced before production fully ceased in 1975; hence, it is equipped with the most updated 5626 movement.

This beautifully shaped silver case was also given an ultrasonic wash and high-quality polish while maintaining its super sexy curves. Most age imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape. The crystal was buffed and is now in stunning condition albeit miniscule scratch marks still present but barely noticeable.

The KS signed original crown is located at the 3H position and is nicely tucked away yet easily accessible. The date / day quickset works as it should by uncorking the crown to the first and second levels to adjust the date + day via clockwise or counterclockwise, and hands respectively.

The day is in English and Kanji - cool!

Even though this is an NOS timepiece, it had undergone a complete overhaul. It was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 22 August 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the excellent 5626 movement, it has an impressive 25 Jewels that operate at 28,800 BPH. The time-grapher shows excellent readings of +1 seconds and amplitude of 128 with a straight centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking calibration conducted.

The case width and height are approximately 36mm (w/o crown) and 42mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

A brand new high-quality genuine two-tone leather strap is provided.

The watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though the relevant seals and gaskets are in place, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided show the watch in near mint condition and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand-new EVA pouch is provided instead.

Yes, there are many other same models in the market, but almost all are not in the same quality condition and is well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that someone special born in November 1972! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

This particular King Seiko KS56 complete with box and documentation is extremely scarce. Watch alone is valued between S$ 392.00 to 1,456.00 on various auction / online sites from horrible, to un-serviced, to "as is," to refurbished, to pristine condition models. New Old Stock (NOS) / Fully Restored models are valued at S$ 3,344.00 thereabouts. Do note that the mentioned prices may / do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.

This calibrated timepiece is being sold at S$ 988.00 which is extremely reasonable.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for a complete overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate, and S$ 80.00 to high quality polish such a watch case - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.

This is a rare Collectible Re-Dialed King Seiko KS56 in near mint condition; so, be unique and own a November 1972 Birthday Watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition or purchase it for that special someone instead.
