For those who are unaware of the Seiko Lord Matic's history, please read this short introduction :
"(The) Lord Matic was the mid to high range of automatic watches introduced by Seiko in 1968 and based on the freshly developed 56xx movement. As you might probably know, there was actually two ranges of LM, the one produced by the Suwa factory, based on the 56xx movement and the LM Special introduced a couple of years later by the Daini factory and based on the 52xx movement" ~ Watch + Vintage Magazine.
This seldom seen May 1975 Seiko Lord Matic has a beautiful 2-Tone dial, 3D baton markers + hands, day/date window and Chapter Ring are in superb condition after a deep cleaning.
Its silver case had also undergone a good rub while maintaining its super sexy curves albeit miniscule dings and scratches are present but barely noticeable. The original crystal was also given a good rub.
The crown is original and is located at the 3H position and is nicely tucked away yet easily accessible. The date / day quickset works (as it should for a vintage) by pulling out the crown to the first level to adjust the date and day via clockwise or counterclockwise. The time is adjusted by pulling the crown out to the second level.
Because it is a JDM, the day is in English and Kanji - cool!
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 25 May 2024. In short, it was given a proper overhaul and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the excellent 5606 movement, it has an impressive 23 Jewels that operate at 21,600 BPH. The time-grapher, after hours of calibration, shows excellent readings of -2 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 237 with a super straight and centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking calibration conducted.
The case width and height are approximately 35.5mm (w/o crown) and 41.5mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 17cm; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.
The watch comes with the original Seiko LM Signed SS bracelet that was also cleaned via ultrasonic immersion followed by a good buff.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Even though the seals and gaskets are intact / replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.
The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand new EVA pouch is provided instead.
This timepiece will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in May 1975, and its value will appreciate over time.
This is a beautifully designed Seiko Lord Matic 5606-8110 Weekdater in excellent condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
