The 7002 movement made its debut in 1988 and it ceased production in 1997. This watch series, including the Seiko 7002-7039, was part of Seiko's dive watch lineup that succeeded the earlier Seiko 6309 series. The 7002 series continued Seiko's tradition of producing reliable and durable dive watches, and it gained popularity among both divers and watch enthusiasts. It was finally replaced by the SKX07 7S26 series in 1997.

The Seiko 7002-7000 features a classic divers watch design with a stainless steel case and a unidirectional rotating bezel thereby allowing divers to track their dive time accurately.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko 7002-7000 in excellent condition that comes with the original Singapore assembled 7002 movement that had acquired Collectible status recently due to its rarity and higher quality.

Its silver case is in excellent condition with its super sharp lines and rounded curves, and is beautifully maintained but nonetheless, it was given a good cleaning via ultrasonic immersion and a good buff afterwards. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape and lines but there are still miniscule scratches and a ding or two remaining that are almost invisible to the naked eye.

The classical designed flat crystal is original and it too was given a good buff. The bezel was removed and serviced as well and functions firmly yet with ease. The dial and hands were carefully cleaned to reveal its condition is above average condition. The hand lumens and 12H bezel marker are operable but barely.

The crown is located at the traditional 4H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags. The date and hands quickset works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first and second level respectively.

Its movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 4 October 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the excellent 17J 7002 movement, it operates at 21,600 beats per hour (BPH) giving it outstanding accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher, after 60 hours of calibration, shows excellent readings i.e. rate of +1 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 167 with a straight centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking expert calibration conducted.

The case width and height are approximately 42mm (without crown) and 46mm respectively. The lug width is 22mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

A brand new hi-quality red silicon strap with reinforced 316 buckle with a commando logo and quick-release spring bars is provided as part of the deal. The Buyer is given the option to choose a different design and coloured strap from my array of straps should he / she wishes to do so.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified.

Even though the seals and gaskets are intact / replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided show the watch’s case in excellent condition and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT almost all are not in the same quality condition and is well maintained as what you see here. IN FACT, MANY 7002s IN THE MARKET ARE EQUIPPED WITH 7009 PARTS, HENCE THEIR "ATTRACTIVE" PRICE. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in July 1999! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for a proper overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate, and S$ 40.00 to polish such a watch case - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
