The Seiko Seahorse made its debut circa 1960 utilising the 66A mechanical movement.
The Seiko 66-8010 Sea Horse is a fascinating and relatively underappreciated vintage Seiko from the mid-1960s. It is a compact, manually wound, water-resistant dress watch powered by the 17-jewel Seiko calibre 66A, a movement descended from Seiko's earlier calibre 66 architecture.
What makes the 66-8010 particularly interesting is its combination of a traditional hand-wound movement, stainless-steel water-resistant case, minimalist 1960s design, and the distinctive Sea Horse emblem on the case back. It belongs to a period when Seiko was rapidly developing the technical foundation that would lead to its international expansion and increasingly sophisticated mechanical watches.
For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko SUWA Seikosha Seahorse 66-8010 ith the wordings "Seahorse" printed on the dial making this a very rare Collectible watch.
This Seahorse Mechanical watch brings sexiness to a new level! It's original silvery dial with sunburst design portrays a variety of hues from various angles but shows patina growing on the below left side of the dial. The white-gold markers and hands are in immaculate condition after a good cleaning.
The cylindrical shaped case was buffed as best as possible; however, there are some hairline scratches do remain. The crystal was given a good rub-down but scratch marks still do exist but barely noticeable.
The unsigned crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully cleaned, and a basic servicing was conducted on the 14 July 2026; hence, it should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner a peace of mind.
Equipped with the iconic 66A movement, it has 17 Jewels that operate at 18,000 BPH. The timing shows approximately 15 seconds deviation daily which is well within the 30 second requirements for by brand new modern automatic watch standards.
The case width and height are 34.7mm (without crown) and 41.2mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the genuine leather saddle strap can accommodate wrists up to 20.0cm with ease; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition. It has also been de-magnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in December 1965, and its value will appreciate over time.
This is a very rare Seiko Seahorse Watch; so, be unique and own a December 1965 Birthday watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition or purchase it for that special someone instead.
