According to most reliable online sources, the Seiko 5106 movement made its debut in 1967 and lasted for two years until 1969. This movement was used in the Seiko Presmatic, hence, it is safe to assume that this April 1967 watch is one of the earliest and oldest of the Seikomatic-P model using the 5106 movement.

Its "AD"(Applied Dial) status makes it even more worthwhile to own due to its almost non-existence status, solid gold 3D indices and hands, and gold-filled case but more importantly, the model number (5106-8010) is found in the EXACT FORMAT on both DIAL and CASE BACK which is the holy grail for many vintage watch collectors thereby making this A HIGHLY SORT AFTER COLLECTIBLE WATCH.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko DAINI mini-Presmatic in near mint condition; hence the "P" in "Seikomatic-P."

This sexy 5106-8010 33 Jewel Automatic has an immaculately preserved reflective Silvery-White Sunburst Dial that is extremely pleasing to the eye.

The 3D solid gold baton indices, date / day window, hands and gold-filled reflective chapter ring and case have undergone a good cleaning and are now magnificently presented.

The timeless cylindrical shaped gold-filled case was buffed as best as possible; however, there are some hairline scratches present. The plexiglass was replaced and is in mint condition.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible. The date quickset works flawlessly by pushing the crown in for immediate adjustment. The time is adjusted by pulling the crown out for hand adjustment. The day quickset is via turning the hands backwards and forwards past midnight. Because it is a Presmatic movement, the date and day changes immediately at midnight and not a slow process as most other (vintage) watches.

The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 27 November 2023. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the 5106 movement, it has an impressive 33 Jewels that operate at a unique 19,800 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher shows superb readings i.e. rate of -1 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 224 in a straight and centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whose accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking calibration conducted.

The case width and height are approximately 36mm (without crown) and 42mm respectively. The lug width is 19mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; thus, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

This timepiece comes with a brand-new hi-quality genuine suede leather strap with matching gold buckle.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided shows the watch case in pristine condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in April 1967! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for a proper overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on watch condition), and S$ 100.00 to polish including tightening of bracelet links - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.

This is a truly stupendous April 1967 Seiko DAINI in near mint condition with a beautifully preserved vintage dial, immaculate indices, hands, movement and case; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.

This is a must-have for the Seiko die-hard fan, or any vintage watch fan for that matter!
