The Omega Geneve is a line of watches produced by Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega. The Geneve collection is known for its elegant and timeless design, focusing on classic aesthetics and understated luxury.
The Omega Geneve was introduced in 1960s as a separate line within the Omega brand. It was created to cater to customers who preferred a more sporty and chic style compared to some of Omega's less sportier offerings. The early Geneve models featured manual-winding movements and a clean, refined design.
During the quartz revolution of the 1970s, Omega adapted by incorporating quartz movements into their range of watches. This period saw the introduction of both analog and digital quartz Geneve models, reflecting the changing preferences of the era.
In the 1990s, Omega refocused on mechanical movements and traditional craftsmanship. The Geneve collection received renewed attention, with watches powered by automatic and hand-wound movements. The designs continued to emphasize sophistication and classic design elements.
The De Ville collection also offers a range of watches designed specifically for women. These models often feature smaller case sizes, intricate detailing, and a mix of materials and precious stones.
Here we have an overhauled Gold-Filled 1972 Omega Geneve Lady movement 625 calibre Ref: 511.0412 Mechanical Watch in near mint condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed a beautifully preserved and unique gold-filled dial with vertical gold-fillings to create a 3D dial effect that is tastefully received by the masses, and a 3D black/gold baton Indices, and hands.
Its classy and stylish oval 20 micron gold-filled shaped case was buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape, lines and gold-filling albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crystal is original and is constructed from mineral glass.
The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled, and calibrated on 10 December 2023. In short, it was given an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered for the next 5 to 10 years thereby giving the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the highly prized 625 movement, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 21,600 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher, after 60 hours of calibration, shows stunning readings i.e. rate of -2 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 271 with a relatively straight and centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, and of course the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approximately 23mm (without crown) and 27mm respectively. The lug width is 11mm and the leather strap can accommodate wrists up to 16.0cm.
The timepiece comes with a hi-quality Bambi brand crocodile leather strap with original gold-filled Omega signed buckle.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The pictures provided show the watch is in mint condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none as beautifully aged and as well maintained as what you see here. Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 200.00 to S$ 250.00 for an Omega overhaul, an estimated S$ 100.00 to calibrate, and S$ 100.00 to clean, polish and tighten the bracelet links of this watch - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a beautiful timepiece that would make a beautiful present for that special someone born in 1972.
This is a must-have for the Omega die-hard fan, and in fact, any serious watch collector for that matter!
