According to the most legitimate information found online, Seiko introduced the 6106 movement in 1967.

This Seiko 5 6106-7000 is a DX model. DX means Deluxe and this is confirmed with the number of jewels (25).

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko 5 6106-7000 DX SUWA Gold Filled 25J in MINT condition and is highly sort after.

The silvery-white dial, 3D baton style gold-filled indices, hands, day/date window and case have been cleaned and are now in MINT condition.

The case had also undergone a good cleaning and a good buff and is in near mint condition albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crystal was given a good polish and is now in near mint condition.

The crown is located at its traditional 4H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags. The date / day quickset works as it should by pushing the crown in to adjust the date. The day quickset is via turning the hands forwards and backwards past midnight. The time is adjusted by uncorking the crown and adjust accordingly.

The day dial is only in English.

The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 5 July 2025; hence it underwent an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner a peace of mind.

Equipped with the famous 6106 movement, it has 25 jewels and operates at 21,600 BPH. The time-grapher, after hours of calibration shows excellent readings of -2 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 188 with a relatively straight centered line! Such readings are highly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking expert calibration.

The case width and height are approximately 35.7mm (w/o crown), and 40mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; thus, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

A brand-new good quality genuine leather brown strap with matching stitching and gold buckle are provided to enhance the colour of the case and dial.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

To the best of our knowledge while overhauling this timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified. 

The pictures provided shows the watch case in immaculate condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box, so a simple aftermarket box / pouch will be provided instead.

Seldom can one find a vintage watch that offers this and more. Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none are as well-kept and maintained as what you see here, and with an attractive price to boot. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in November 1967! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

This particular watch model is valued between S$ 188.00 to S$ 427.00 on various auction / online sites from really horrible, to un-serviced, to "as is," to serviced models. Fully Restored and New Old Stock models are valued at S$ 435.00  to S$ 587.00. Note: the mentioned prices do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.

Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 200.00 to S$ 300.00 for a full overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on the condition of the watch), and S$ 40.00 to buff such a watch case - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.

This is a truly magnificent November 1967 Seiko 5 DX 6106-7000 SUWA in near MINT condition with a beautifully preserved gold-filled vintage dial, immaculate indices, case and movement; so, be unique and use something that is almost impossible to source.
