Rado is a Swiss watch brand known for its innovative use of materials and distinctive design.

In 1960, Bulova introduced the Accutron that was the world's first electronic watch, using a tuning fork powered by a battery. This technology was highly accurate compared to traditional mechanical watches and allowed the second hand to glide which is unlike the quartz ticking movement.

Here we have a stunning golden sunburst circa 1972 Rado Electrosonic in near mint condition.

The Rado Electrosonic uses the Bulova Accutron tuning fork movement, renowned for its accuracy. The tuning fork vibrates at a high frequency (360 Hz), regulated by an electronic circuit.

For Rado Collectors and Vintage fans, this particular Rado Electrosonic is equipped with the ESA / Bulova 9162 Tuning Fork movement. This watch had gained Collectible status due to its rarity and hi-quality materials used. 

Its unique shaped case made from highly scratch resistant Tungsten Carbide, copper-tone sunburst dial, 3D U-Shaped indices, hands and date window are in stunning condition after a good deep clean-up. The multi-faceted sapphire crystal is original and was also buffed to near mint condition. 

The movement was meticulously cleaned, serviced, and a new battery was provided on the 10 April 2024; thus, it should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind. 

The signed crown is original and is located at the 3H position and is neatly tucked in to prevent damage and snags yet easily accessible. The date and hands operate in the traditional manner by pulling out and rotating the crown which works flawlessly.

The case width and height are approx. 39mm (w/o crown) and 36mm respectively. The lug width is 12mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 18cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

The watch also comes with the original Rado Signed President 2 Tone SS Bracelet that was given a good clean up and buff.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Rado components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.

The pictures provided shows the watch in near-mint condition, and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand new EVA Pouch is provided instead. 

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
