Oris was founded in 1904 in the Swiss town of Hölstein by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. From its inception, Oris has been dedicated to producing mechanical watches of exceptional quality and precision. Over the years, the brand has built a reputation for innovation and reliability.
Unlike many Swiss watch brands, Oris has remained independent throughout its history. This independence allows Oris to pursue its vision and values without the constraints of corporate ownership.
Oris watches are proudly Swiss-made, with each timepiece crafted and assembled in Switzerland by skilled watchmakers. The brand adheres to strict quality standards, ensuring that every watch meets the highest level of craftsmanship and precision.
Here we have the highly Collectible and highly sort-after Oris 302-7285 Cal ETA 2691 Gold-Filled Mechanical Watch.
This seldom seen vintage Oris reveals a beautiful and immaculately preserved two-tone silvery-cream-white sunburst dial after a good clean-up. The 3D gold-filled Arabic Numeral indices, luminous dauphine hands, and silver Chapter Ring are in superb condition after undergoing a thorough clean-up as well.
Its typical cylindrical shaped silver case had undergone a thorough cleaning and buff albeit a few miniscule scratches that are barely noticeable to the naked eye. The crystal was given a good buff and is now in excellent condition.
The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags.
The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 12 March 2024. In short, it was given an overhaul, and should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the highly prized ETA 2691 movement, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 18,000 beats per hour (BPH) giving it excellent accuracy and longevity. The time-grapher shows superb readings i.e. rate of +8 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 192 with a relatively straight centered line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve and longevity for such a vintage timepiece, the meticulous care provided over the years, and of course the painstaking calibration conducted.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Oris components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket parts or modified thereby it is considered in near MINT condition.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested.
The case width and height are approximately 32mm (without crown) and 37.5mm respectively. The lug width is 16mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 18.0cm; thus, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.
The watch comes with its original Oris Signed Genuine Leather Strap with Oris signed Silver Buckle.
The pictures provided shows the watch in near mint condition, and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT none as beautifully aged and as well maintained as what you see here. Hence, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that special someone! Another no-brainer is the fact that the value of this watch will appreciate over time.
Do also bear in mind that it will cost between S$ 180.00 to S$ 200.00 for a proper overhaul, an estimated S$ 80.00 to calibrate (depending on watch condition), and S$ 100.00 to clean and polish including tightening of bracelet links (if applicable) - these costs do not apply when purchasing this timepiece. So, if anyone was to sell such a timepiece at a low price yet claim that it has been serviced, one has to ask what kind of servicing was conducted, if any.
This is a highly sort-after Oris Cal 302-7285B ETA 2691 Date Pointer series; so, be unique and wear something that is almost impossible to source.
