POINTtec, the parent company of Zeppelin, was established by Wilhelm Birk in Ismaning, Germany. The company initially focused on producing watches under various brand names, with an emphasis on creating timepieces that celebrated German engineering and history.

This 100 Jarre (Years) collection celebrates the centennial of the first Zeppelin airship flight made in 1909. The watches in this series are designed with a strong vintage influence, featuring chronographs, moon phases, and power reserve indicators.

Here we have a Zeppelin 100 Jarre Ref: 7640-5 quartz timepiece with sub-dials and date window in mint condition. This gold cased watch is a Collectible because it is discontinued and not easily found online.

This seldom seen 100 Jarre was given a good clean-up - the result - the dial, button markers, hands and mini dial + hands are now in mint condition.

Its gold case was given a good clean-up and buffed as best as possible and is now in mint condition as well. The acrylic crystal is original and was given a good buff.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H and 4H position. All quickset adjustments work as they should by pulling out the respective crowns to make the necessary adjustments accordingly.

The movement was carefully cleaned, oiled, and battery changed on 7 July 2023 and should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

The case width and height are approx. 42.5mm (w/o crown) and 49mm respectively. The lug width is 22mm, and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 20cm; hence, suitable for men and women.

The watch comes with an original Zeppelin genuine calf leather strap with gold buckle.

The watch comes with its original box, box casing cover, and papers.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Zeppelin components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though the seals and gaskets are present / replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in mint condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy.

This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone, and its value will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
