Jules Jürgensen was founded in 1740 by Jürgen Jürgensen, a Danish watchmaker who trained in Switzerland and France. The company was originally established in Copenhagen, Denmark, under the name "Urban Jürgensen + Sønner," but it was Jules Jürgensen, Jürgen’s son, who would later take the brand to new heights and establish it as a respected name in the world of horology.

Throughout the 19th century, Jules Jürgensen introduced several innovations that set the brand apart from its competitors. The company was known for its precision chronometers, which were used for scientific and nautical purposes. Jules Jürgensen also developed advanced escapements, including the detached lever escapement, which improved the accuracy and reliability of their watches.

The brand was highly regarded in royal circles and among the European aristocracy. Jules Jürgensen watches were awarded numerous prizes and accolades at international exhibitions, further cementing their reputation for excellence.

Like many traditional watchmakers, Jules Jürgensen faced challenges during this period, particularly during the Quartz Crisis of the 1970s when many mechanical watch brands struggled to compete with the more affordable and accurate quartz watches.

The brand changed ownership several times throughout the 20th century, and its production gradually shifted from high-end pocket watches to wristwatches. Despite these changes, Jules Jürgensen continued to maintain a focus on quality and craftsmanship.

Here we have a Jules Jurgenson Ref: 7336 quartz timepiece with sub-dials for date/day/hour in near mint condition. This watch is a Collectible and is very rare.

This seldom seen JJ 7336 was given a good clean-up - the result - the burgundy sunburst dial, 3D gold rimmed button markers, skeleton hands and mini dial + hands are now in near mint condition.

Its gold case was given a good clean-up and buffed as best as possible and is now in exceptional condition. The acrylic crystal is original and was given a good buff.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H position. All quickset adjustments work as they should by pulling out the crown to make the necessary adjustments accordingly.

The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and battery changed on 7 August 2024, thus it had undergone a full service and should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

The case width and height are approx. 39.3mm (w/o crown) and 45.3mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm, and the strap can accommodate wrists up to 19cm; hence, suitable for men and women.

The watch comes with an original Jules Jurgenson signed genuine leather strap with gold buckle.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original JJ components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though the seals and gaskets are present / replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in near mint condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation but the original box is provided.

This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone, and its value will appreciate over time.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

This particular watch model is not easily found on online sites due to its rarity.

This is a truly magnificent and rare Jules Jurgenson 7336 Quartz Chrono in stunning condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
