In 1875, J. Bulova Company was established in the USA by Bohemian immigrant, Joseph Bulova. It was re-incorporated in 1923 as Bulova Watch Company. It was sold to Loews Corporation in 1929 who then sold it to Citizen in 2007. 

Here we have a beautiful and extremely rare Bulova Super Seville Calendar Lady Edition Dress Quartz Watch meant for the Japanese market. 

This timepiece was given an overhaul, and its dial was meticulously cleaned, its electronic movement cleaned and touched up, demagnetised, and its battery replaced on 14 May 2024. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind. 

The circular shaped gold-plated case with Faux Diamond Indices and gold plated bezel also underwent a good clean and buffed. There is no peeling of gold plating but miniscule scratches are present. The mineral crystal with date magnifier is original and also underwent a good cleaning and buff, and is now also in excellent condition.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible. The date is changed via the traditional method of pulling out the crown to adjust accordingly.

The case width and height are approximately 25mm (w/o crown) and 32mm respectively. The bracelet width is 13mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 16cm.

Even though the seals were replaced, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age. 

The timepiece comes with the original Bulova Signed Gold-Plated Jubilee Designed SS Bracelet. Because of its gold-plating, the bracelet was given a deep cleaning and a good buff instead of ultrasonic treatment and is now in near mint condition with no peeling. 

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Bulova components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

The pictures provided shows the watch in near mint condition (no dents and major scratches), and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand-new EVA pouch is provided instead. 

This very well preserved timepiece will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1991, and its value will appreciate over time. 

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
