Seiko Epson Corporation, commonly known as Seiko, acquired the Orient Watch Company in 2009. This acquisition allowed Seiko to expand its presence in the watch industry and further diversify its product offerings. Orient Watch Company is known for its own line of watches and has a history of producing affordable and well-regarded mechanical timepieces.

This Orient Epson watch, Model QB1Y-C0 Swimmer is a discontinued model, hence it has become somewhat, a Collectible amongst the Orient faithful due to its quality, solid construction, colour scheme and accuracy.

It actually looks akin to a Seiko Lord Marvel with its Italic Arabic Numerals on a white dial. Cool!

Due to its relatively young age, this watch was only given a general servicing clean-up and calibration on 28 August 2024. Its case and bracelet were buffed and most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape. It is now in excellent condition. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next battery change thereby providing the owner peace of mind. The crystal is original and was also given a good buff.

The crown is original and is located at the 3H position and is nicely tucked away yet easily accessible. The hands quickset works by uncorking the crown and adjusting accordingly.

The case width and height are approx. 34.3mm (w/o crown) and 40.2mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 17cm thereabouts; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women.

The bracelet is a high quality vintage Jubilee Designed SS Bracelet that marries extremely well to this timepiece. The bracelet was thoroughly cleaned and given a good buff.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko / Orient components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though the seals and gaskets are present, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition and well maintained. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A nice purposeful carrying case or box will be provided instead.

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

This timepiece will make a beautiful birthday present for that someone special!

This particular timepiece is rather scarce and is valued between S$ 100.00 to 114.00 on various auction / online sites from really horrible, to un-serviced, to "as is," to serviced models. Fully restored and New Old Stock (NOS) models are valued at S$ 239.00 thereabouts. Do note that the mentioned prices may / do not include currency conversions, commissions, taxes and freight costs etc.

This is a rare Orient Swimmer 100 in stunning condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
