This Omega Geneve Seamaster 23J Cal 1020 is an extremely rare timepiece produced by Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega because it is equipped with an automatic gear integrated within the movement. This design allows for a robust rotor bearing, despite the movement's low profile. The Omega 1020 movement features a sweep second hand, day and date display with quickset capability, and an automatic function. It is equipped with Incabloc Shock Protection and includes a hack feature. The earlier models were 17J. This is a later model with 23J.
Here we have an overhauled Omega Geneve Seamaster Cal 1020 Ref 166.02126 Automatic with Manual Winding capabilities in stunning condition.
A good and thorough clean-up revealed an orange dial with 3D silver baton markers and baton hands. There is wear + tear around the edges of the dial. Please refer to the pictures taken.
Its classy and stylish TV shaped silver case was buffed as best as possible without compromising its shape, lines and brushed finish albeit a few minor scratches that are barely noticeable. The crystal was replaced with a quality NOS Seiko crystal and is now in mint condition.
The signed crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible.
The movement (including the Main Spring) was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 21 October 2025; hence it underwent a full overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.
Equipped with the 1020 movement made from copper-plated beryllium-bronze, it has 23 Jewels and operate at 28,800 BPH. The time-grapher shows superb readings of 0 seconds with amplitude of 191 with a consistent straight line! Such readings are extremely exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.
The case width and height are approx. 34.5mm (w/o crown) and 40mm respectively. The SS bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 20cm because it comes with additional links; hence this timepiece is suitable for men and the modern women.
To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Omega components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.
Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though the seals are present.
The pictures provided show the watch in stuuning condition. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear + tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or purposeful carrying case will be provided instead.
Valued up to S$ 3,454.00, this watch is being sold at a fantastic price of S$ 1,566.00. This very rare watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in 1982, and its value will appreciate over time.
Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and preserved for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.
This is a highly sort-after 1982 Omega Geneve Seamsaster Cal 1020 Ref: 166.02126 Automatic in stunning condition; so, be unique and wear a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
