According to most reliable online sites, the 7619 movement made its debut circa 1963.

Even though the Sportsmatic was meant to be a more affordable version of the Seikomatic, it was nonetheless provided with day / date capabilities, good quality movements and Applied Dial (AD) status for certain models. This is one such model what with its Deluxe status thereby additional jewels.

This Seiko 5 Sportsmatic 7619-9041AD also has a hacking feature that is extremely beneficial for time synchronizing. It is also a deluxe model thus the additional jewels to minimise parts wear and tear, improve power reserve and timekeeping.

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko 7619-9041AD Deluxe 25J in excellent condition. This is a almost non-existent highly sort-after Collectible and its "AD" status makes it even more desirable to own.

This silver case is in superb condition with its super sharp lines and is beautifully maintained but nonetheless, it too was given a good cleaning via ultrasonic immersion and a good buff afterwards. Most imperfections were removed without compromising the case shape and lines but there are still miniscule scratches remaining that are almost invisible to the naked eye. A fluted bezel is present and in excellent condition with practically no wear and tear. The classical designed flat crystal is original and it too was given a good buff.

Two crowns are present at 2H and 4H. Both are nicely tucked away to prevent damage or snags yet easily accessible. The date quickset works flawlessly by pushing in the 2H crown. The 4H crown is for hands adjustment. There is no quickset for day adjustment and it must be manually done via crown rotating until the correct day appears in the window. The day is only in English due to the size of the movement and case.

The movement was carefully stripped and meticulously cleaned via ultrasonic immersion, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 19 August 2023. Hence it was given a complete overhaul instead of a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the excellent 7619 movement, it operates at 18,000 BPH. The time-grapher, after hours of calibration, shows excellent readings i.e. rate of -1 seconds every 24 hours and amplitude of 202 with a relatively straight line! Such readings are extremely exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, the meticulous care provided over the years, and the painstaking expert calibration conducted. 

The case width and height are approximately 38mm (w/o crown) and 44mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the bracelet can accommodate wrists up to 21cm; hence, this watch is suitable for men and the modern women. 

An original Seiko signed SS bracelet accompanies this timepiece. It too was thoroughly cleaned via ultrasonic immersion and buffed.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Even though the seals and gaskets are intact, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested due to its age.

The pictures provided shows the watch in excellent condition and well maintained. It has also been demagnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear & tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. A brand new EVA pouch is provided instead. 

Bear in mind that this watch has seen many of the previous owners’ ups and downs in life, and should be cherished and well taken care of for the next generation to savour such engineering beauty.

Yes, there are many other same / similar models in the market, BUT almost all are not in the same quality condition and is well maintained as what you see here. So, it is a no-brainer that this one-of-a-kind watch will make an extremely beautiful birthday present for that someone special born in January 1967, and its value will appreciate over time.
