The Cal. 6602, formerly known as Ca.l 957, made its debut circa 1961. This movement is normally found in Seiko Sportsman and Seahorse models.

This is an extremely rare Seiko 6602-7030 Mechanical watch because it is a Sportsman and Seahorse model in one!

For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is an October 1966 Seiko Seikosha SUWA Sportsman / Seahorse; hence, a watch that goes well for casual and evening wear - clever.

Furthermore, this mechanical watch is a highly sort-after Collectible because it is also a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) model.

The original silvery white dial, baton indices, dauphine hands and date window are in stunning condition after a thorough clean-up.

The silver case and bracelet were also cleaned via ultrasonic immersion and buffed as best as possible afterwards; however, there are some hairline scratches present that are hardly noticeable. The crystal was replaced and is now in mint condition.

The crown is located at the traditional 3H position and is easily accessible. The time quickset is via the traditional method of uncorking the crown for adjustment. There is no quickset for the date.

The movement was carefully stripped, meticulously cleaned, oiled, re-assembled and calibrated on 20 June 2024, and another calibration and basic servicing was conducted on the 21 October 2025; hence it underwent an overhaul and not a general servicing. It should be able to operate unhindered until the next servicing thereby providing the owner peace of mind.

Equipped with the iconic 6602 movement, it has 17 Jewels and operate at 18,000 BPH. The time-grapher shows superb readings of +1 seconds and amplitude of 195 with a relatively straight centred line! Such readings are truly exceptional even by brand new modern automatic watch standards whereby the accepted tolerance is -20 to +40 seconds a day! This is a testament to the quality, excellent power reserve, the meticulous care provided over the years, and expert calibration.

The case width and height are approx. 33.5mm (w/o crown) and 40mm respectively. The lug width is 18mm and the bracelet can handle wrists up to 18.5cm; hence, suitable for men and the modern women.

To the best of our knowledge and expertise when overhauling the timepiece, the watch is 100% original Seiko components from this particular watch. No parts were replaced with aftermarket or modified parts.

Due to its age, this timepiece has not been water-resistant tested even though the seals are in place.

The pictures provided shows the watch and bracelet in stunning condition, and the movement within squeaky clean and well maintained. It has also been de-magnetised to improve parts reliability, minimise wear and tear, and improve accuracy. The only drawback is the lack of documentation and original box. An aftermarket box or carrying case will be provided instead.

Yes, there are many other same models in the market, BUT almost all are not as well maintained as what you see here. Hence, this watch will make a beautiful birthday present for that special someone born in October 1966, and its valued will appreciate over time.

This is a highly sort-after Seiko 6602-7030 with a classy SS bracelet; so, be unique and own a watch that is almost impossible to source in such fine condition.
